Waiting in Faithfulness
Advent marks the start of the church calendar. The church calendar invites us to journey with Christ each year; remembering his birth, life, death and resurrection.
Advent is a time when we pray, ‘Come Lord Jesus’, celebrating his birth and looking forward to his coming again.
Advent is a time of waiting – waiting for the coming of the King of Kings.
As Christians we both wait for Christ’s coming but we also know his coming in our everyday lives.
This Advent we are going to explore how we wait. How do we wait in a way that makes us present to what God is doing now? And how do we wait with expectation of his Kingdom breaking into our lives more each day?
We will journey with four people from the story of Jesus’ birth, four people who waited for a long time to see their hopes fulfilled. We will journey with Zechariah, Elizabeth, Simeon and Anna. We see in the story their faithfulness to God in the years of waiting and the joy they experienced when they saw God’s Kingdom breaking through before them.
